A lingerie style lace pencil skirt by Jean Paul Gaultier from his Spring-Summer 1988 collection 'La Concierge est dans l'Escalier'. The skirt features an overlay of black Valenciennes lace on beige stretch lycra. The lace depicts a cowboy riding a horse in a mountain scenery and shooting a revolver up into the sky 'BANG!'. This is decoratively framed with knight's helmets looming from above and a coat of arms on the corner. 'Cowboy' is written on the banners, as well as the designer's name 'Jean Paul Gaultier' spelled backwards. The side panels have satin band stripes. The back has a stretch satin lace-up panel, with a zipper hidden underneath. The skirt has a scalloped elastic waistband, which is flared towards the top.
A similar version of the skirt is documented on the runway. This is a highly collectible piece.

The skirt is in very good vintage condition. There are a few breaks in the netting, as shown in the photos. One small run in the back satin panel. The waistband is a bit brittle. I therefore wouldn't recommend over-stretching it, otherwise it is fine to wear. Priced accordingly.
The skirt will fit sizes small, medium up to large. Please refer to the measurements.
